Time/sketch: 30 seconds (except for the handstand guy)
The two sketches with red bits is me doing a little exercise where I draw a scribble without anything in mind (the red bit), and then try to construct something that makes sense around it (in this case, figures).

Time per sketch: varied (30 seconds-10 mins, about)
Today I sketched one of my kitties (Dinah). At first she was moving a lot so it was difficult, but then she settled down to nap and I got a good few sleeping poses. =^_^=

Jan. 24, 2013
Time per sketch: 30 seconds (excluding the random stuff at the bottom)
Once again, horses, big cats and athletes. Great subjects for speed sketching!
So yeah, I guess I got tired of drawing from reference at the bottom and some random stuff cropped up. :P
Oh also, 2nd from the top on the right was an adorable tiger cub scratching its head with one of its feet while standing. It was too cute. That is all.

Jan. 22, 2013
Time per sketch: 2 minutes
Total time spent sketching: 22 minutes
Subject: faces
Notes: I decided to give myself a little more time than usual today to see what I could do with it. I think the 30 second sketches have probably been improving my ability to quickly analyze the subject and place pieces/features in accurate positions. Doing these longer sketches gave me a chance to see if this quick analyzing skill carries over into longer sketches as well. I think it likely does, but I definitely need a lot more practice at the quick sketches, as well as more longer ones like these...

Jan. 20, 2013
Time per sketch: 30 seconds
Total time spent sketching: 14 minutes
Subjects: faces, athletes, people, horses, big cats
Notes: Didn't focus on anatomy like I thought I might, it seemed difficult to do in 3o seconds...it's probably something better studied with 2-3 minute sketches. Today I was thinking more about types of mark-making, and using less lines where possible.

Jan. 19th, 2013
Time per sketch: 30 seconds
Total time spent sketching: ~13 minutes
Subjects: faces, athletes, people
Notes: trying to think a little more about "line of action" today in the bodies, and getting the big pieces down first with the faces...kinda ignored anatomy on some of these though..maybe that should be my focus tomorrow.

1st Day! Jan. 16, 2013
So, as proclaimed in a twitter post, I've decided that it would be good for my artistic development to do at least a few minutes of speed sketching every single day. A thank you is in order for my husband David who made me a speed sketching program a while ago, as well as to the people who made lovecastle.org/draw, and the people over at pixelovely.com . For now I am using these three great tools for my speed sketching sessions.
So, without further ado, here are the sketches from my first day of speed sketching on January 16th (2 days ago):
